In the second of a 3-part series on the Civil War, this program will focus on the beginnings of the war in 1861 until Emancipation. Songs of the period clearly illustrate the emotional side of the conflict, and the various ways it was viewed by soldiers, songwriters, and those left at home, both North and South.
