We'll Rally 'Round the Flag at the Brick Store Museum, Main Street, Kennebunk, Maine
This is the first in a series of three concerts commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Civil War. This is a Singing History program, geared to adults, and looking at the state of the Union on the eve of war. Lincoln has been elected, the South is seceding, and a standoff is taking place in Charleston harbor. We'll look at how we got to this place through songs the people sang and the stories behind them. Subsequent programs will cover the first years of the war, up to the Emancipation Proclamation, and the final years and Reconstruction.
