From the recording Lincoln and Liberty

Written for the campaign of 1860 by Jesse Hutchinson of the Hutchinson Family Singers.  The song tries to instill pride in the candidate of the newly-minted Republican Party among voters in three states:  Kentucky, where he was born; the "Hoosiers" of Indiana, where Lincoln lived from 1816-30, and the residents of Illinois, the state in which he resided at the time, and whose inhabitants had the unfortunate nickname of "Suckers."
