Fiddle-icious, the Maine fiddle orchestra, opens its 2008 concert series at Gorham High School. This is the first of four concerts of this fun and entertaining group, which my husband Bill and I joined for the first time this year. And are we glad we did!!! There are about 80 musicians of all levels, from professional to beginners, and while most play violin, there are also harps, guitars, flutes, accordions, and I play banjo and bones. The music is wonderful, the energy high, and the toe-tapping inescapable. For more about Fiddle-icious, visit the website at http://www.fiddleicious.com/

Monica teams up with the Brick Store Museum for Over Here and "Over There!," music and images from the Great War. This is another of Monica's Singing History programs, offered for adults, with the wonderful addition of the Brick Store Museum's collection of World War One posters, one of the largest in Maine. Together, posters and songs paint an emotional portrait of the home front and the fighting forces in the Great War. Huntington Common, off Ross Road in Kennebunk, has offered to host this event in their lovely dining hall, and refreshments will be served after the 2 p.m. concert. Admission is free, but Huntington Common asks that you make a reservation by calling 207-985-2810.
